Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the 11th edition of African Women's Cup of Nations

The reigning championships, Super Falcons of Nigeria, have qualified for 2018 African Women's Cup of Nations by beating Queen Scorpions of Gambia 6-0 today.

Goals from Desire Oparanozie and Oshoala Asisat sealed the qualification for Nigeria. It's worth noting that Super Falcons previously won the Queen Scorpion of Gambia 1-0 away from home,  making the aggregate score line to be 7-0 in favour of Nigeria.

Desire Oparanozie gave Super Falcons of Nigeria the lead by converting a spot kick in the 2'. Nigeria's second goal of the day came in the 44' through Oshoala Asisat. Oparanozie scored her second and third goals in the 49' and 63' of the normal time. Oshoala got her second of the day in the 74' before Oparanozie completed the roasting of the Queen Scorpions of Gambia with the 6th goal of the match(and her 4th) in the 85'.

By this victory, Nigeria Super Falcons have joined countries like Ghana, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, South Africa, Mali and Algeria in this year's edition of African Women's Cup of Nations (which is the 11th edition of the competition) which will be held in Ghana come November.

The first, second and third teams of the competition will be representing Africa in 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, which will be held in France.

The 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup will be the eighth edition of the FIFA Women's  World Cup, the quadrennial international women's football championship contested by the national teams of the member associations of FIFA between 7 June and 7 July 2019. According to report, in March 2015, France won the right to host the event; the first time the country will host the tournament, and the third time Europe will. Matches are planned for nine cities across France. The current format of the tournament is 24 competing teams, including the host nation. The defending champions are the United StatesChile will make their first appearance at a FIFA Women's World Cup, and Italy will take part in the event for the first time since 1999.
